There was a time when credit cards were strictly for local use. But research showed that the odd thing about them was that — though most people would use them mostly for everyday purchases — they still dreamed of being able to use the card to trek off to faraway places with strange sounding names. My goal was to show that Visa, as the credit card accepted in more places across the world than any other, was the one to take them there.

Visa Traveler Cheques Ad Around the corner, around the world, Visa was “All You Need.” That was the simple message these ads conveyed in stunning fashion.

Each ad fucntioned like a billboard. The busy reader could scan the image, the headline and drop to the logo and tagline and get a complete message.

Reasearch showed that this is how readers read ads. And for the 10% who actually read the body copy, we repeated the Visa promise in detail.
